Spilled milk turned stone white, tradition says
According to tradition, while Mary and Joseph fled HEROS’s soldiers on their way to Egypt, they stopped in this cave while Mary nursed the baby Jesus. A drop of Mary’s milk fell upon the stone and turned white.

Have a blessing of this Holy white rock powder from the Milk Grotto Church, Bethlehem.

The Milk Grotto is a small Christian shrine and cave located in Bethlehem, only a few minutes’ walk from the Church of the Nativity. It is a place of pilgrimage, especially connected with fertility, pregnancy, and mothers.
The Christian Tradition
According to long-standing Christian tradition:
After the birth of Jesus Christ,
Mary, Saint Joseph, and the infant Jesus hid in this cave while fleeing from Herod the Great.
The story says that while Mary was nursing Jesus, a drop of her milk fell on the stone floor, and the rock miraculously turned white. Because of this, the cave walls are pale white and powdery, which gave the place its name: Milk Grotto.
Pilgrimage and Beliefs
Many Christian couples visit the grotto because it is believed to help with:
infertility
pregnancy
safe childbirth
increasing breast milk
Pilgrims often receive a small packet of white powder (scraped from the cave stone) which is mixed with water or food while praying for a child.
The Church Today
Today the cave is preserved inside the Milk Grotto Church, run by Franciscan Order monks. Visitors can pray in the small chapel built over the grotto.

The grotto has thousands of letters and photos from couples around the world thanking the Virgin Mary for children they say were born after praying there
